California Independent System Operator (ISO)

The California ISO is a not-for-profit public benefit corporation charged with managing the flow of electricity along California's open-market wholesale power grid. It conducts a portion of the bulk power markets used to allocate space on transmission lines, maintain operating reserves, and match supply with demand.

For its SOA-based Market Redesign and Technology Upgrade (MRTU) project covering many of its services, including those for creating auctions for power provisioning and setting prices, the California ISO chose Actional to monitor SOA security and performance and provide verifiable SOA compliance with energy industry regulations.

"After completing a rigorous proof-of-concept, we chose Actional for its enterprise-class features and functionality," said Dan Yee, California ISO CIO. "The California ISO is committed to providing the California public with the full value of an open market system, and the MRTU project will elicit the most advanced technology available to achieve that goal."
